?After 10 years now, Slipknot has shown that they are the real deal.  I recall the first time I heard the first Slipknot disc as it was being released.  The feeling reminded me of the sensation I felt listening to the first Guns n Roses or Motley Crue records (yes, they were records then, not CDs or MP3s).  Something was about to change...and in a big way. That ended up being an understatement.  As it turns out, Slipknot has pretty much written the book on what Metal is supposed to sound like during the beginning of this current millennium.  The first Slipknot album not only signaled the change, it was the template.  Now, as we celebrate a decade of the rule of the Maggots from Iowa, there is no question that Slipknot are outstanding in their field, but in case we didn't get the memo, the cover of their latest release "All Hope is Gone" displays that they are literally out, standing in their field.

How ironic is it that Knoxville, TX is the home base for STRAIGHT LINE STITCH? These young whipper-snappers literally lay a sonic beat down on you with their "When Skies Wash Ashore". Fronted by female siren Alexis Brown, Straight Line Stitch really stand out in a sea of bands that sound and look exactly the same. Their style is destructive and brutal one moment, then  melodic and infectious the next. The band just released a new video for the song "Taste of Ashes" featuring HATEBREED's Jamey Jasta online on YouTube so make sure you check them out and hear one of the best debut albums of the past couple of years.
