THE ART OF METAL COVER OF THE WEEK: MASTODON - CRACK THE SKYE
Every once and while, a band emerges that truly deserves every bit of success that comes their way. Since 2002, Mastodon have been plugging away with their own brand of progressive metal without the aid of radio or mainstream press. These guys just did what they do best without listening to anyone else or giving a fuck about anyone but themselves.
Mastodon are true artists that treat everything they do as a piece of art. From their songwriting to their merch, everything they do is a form of artistic expression. The cover art for Mastodon's latest opus, "Crack
The Skye", is a breathtaking, thought provoking piece of artwork that makes you immediately want to pop in the album so you can hear the fucking brilliance of this record. The album cover stands out from a sea of shitty hip-hip and pop records that pollute the shelves at your local record shop.

EMINEM ROCKS THE 'WORLD
Say what you want about him, his personal life or the drama that surrounds him, but Eminem is still the greatest white rapper to ever touch a microphone. I know a lot of hip-hop heads who are getting ready to hunt me down for even saying the words, but it's true. I know it pisses people off that this white-boy from Detroit took over the game like Tiger Woods destroyed millions of old white guys to become the greatest golfer of all time, but it happened. Eminem's quick flow and ability to take the shitstorm that is his life and use it to create great songs is what makes him the best. His new album, "Relapse", chronicles Eminem's battle with pills and turned out some of his best material. I know some people are a little pissed that the trademark humor isn't in the forefront of this new album, but like any true artist, Eminem has created something dark, original and powerful. FAITH NO MORE U.S. REUNION ANNOUNCED
Here at Sik World, we care a lot, and we learned that from Faith No More. They were one of few bands that crossed boundaries and created widespread acceptance for diversity in Metal. In a genre known for bands like Manowar and Poison, they didn't take themselves too seriously and made it a career goal to raise a middle finger to everyone, even to themselves. Recently, they regrouped and have been touring the world. It has been announced via Twitter recently that plans are being made for a US tour, but they're currently booked up through March 2010. Hit the link to get a preview of Faith No More's FULL SET at the Download Festival in England from this summer. You may want to make sure you have some tissues with you, because it's so sweet you could get a bit choked up over it. They're reunited, and it feels so good!
